Pediatric Occupational Therapy addresses the skills necessary for a child to become a functional and independent adult.  These skills include such things as; fine and gross motor skills, age appropriate self-care skills, regulation of arousal level in order to attend, sensory discrimination and processing, communication skills, cognitive skills, appropriate social interactions, and self-concept.  Pediatric Occupational Therapists most often address these skills through play which is a natural medium used by all children and is highly motivating.  Education and involvement of the family is usually a primary consideration in Pediatric Occupational Therapy and may be critical to success.
